Day of the Dead, our legendary tradition.

A tradition that revalues death and celebrates the return of our dead: this is the Day of the Dead for Mexico and at Hotel Geneve we tell you a little about this iconic celebration.

A day so representative for Mexican culture, is formed since pre-Hispanic times with the Mexica, who worshiped death. It was the closest circle of the people who died, who held a party in their honor and gave them gifts on an altar so that their "journey" to the "Mictlan" would be good and even food was given to them so that they would not be hungry during their journey.
This celebration with great popular transcendence has been adopted and adapted with the passing of time by different regions of the Mexican Republic, but always, to honor life and thank those who passed through it.
One of our emblematic characters who also honored death and did it through her paintings was Frida Kahlo, who, with numerous illnesses in her last years, decided to portray herself as a symbol of rebirth and perhaps even, expressing with her works, that death is only the way to a different form of existence...

Being a tradition that appreciates our passage through the world, the Day of the Dead is worth celebrating year after year... to enjoy with family and loved ones.
For all this and more, at Hotel Geneve we dress up and invite you to learn more about the history of Mexico and its distinguished guests who have passed away, who even after their death, are part of our spaces and commemorate the history of our country and why not? even try a delicious pan de muerto in our restaurant, so that on these dates you can enjoy this tradition... Legendary!
