Mexican Revolution and Hotel Geneve.

The Hotel Geneve opened its doors in 1907, located in Mexico City, and became an emblematic place for its rich history, its connection to the Mexican Revolution and the Porfiriato period.
During the Porfiriato, Mexico experienced a period of political stability and economic development under the presidency of Porfirio Díaz. During this time, Diaz promoted foreign investment and modernization of the country, attracting businessmen and tourists. The Geneve Hotel stood out as a luxury destination frequented by the political, social and business elite of the time. The hotel witnessed significant events and the visit of prominent personalities.
As we well know, Diaz was a fan of European architecture and Frenchified gastronomy, so he became a regular diner at the restaurant formerly called "Palm Garden".
According to the ledgers of the time and what is written in the book "Porfirio Díaz y el Porfiriato Cronología (1830-1915)" by Pablo Serrano Álvarez, a historian, the former president was having breakfast at the Hotel Geneve on the morning of November 20 while thousands of Mexicans caused the Mexican Revolution to begin.
With the outbreak of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, the country entered a period of conflict and political turmoil. The Hotel Geneve, like other places in Mexico City, experienced changes in its clientele and social dynamics. During the revolution, segments of the elite who had previously frequented the hotel were affected by political events.
It is said to have witnessed important political meetings and agreements during the Mexican Revolution. Porfirio Diaz is said to have had significant conversations with political leaders and businessmen at the hotel. It is also said that some of the revolutionary conspirators met at the Geneve to plan strategies against the Diaz government.
Today it has become a Hotel Museum to preserve the memory of the history of Mexico, exhibiting menus, utensils, dishes, suitcases, clothing of the time, works of art and antique telephones, do not forget that in one of them you can listen to the call that Porfirio Diaz made with Thomas A. Edison in 1907, thanking him for a letter he sent him days before.
